Le Sorbelle: Villa/Apartments nr Pienza
The Sorbelle is an ancient farm, originally a place of hospitality for the pilgrims journeying along the Via Francigena. At the beginning of the XVI century it belonged to the Hospital of Santa Maria della Scala, and, like all the property of the Castello di Spedaletto, next to the hamlet, it carried out the task of producing cereals and breeding sheep. Subsequently, when the medical power of the Republic of Siena had the upper hand, Sorbelle, with all the surrounding land, passed to the Piccolomini family. Pope Pious II, who was a member of that family, particularly adored the area and the city of Pienza.
Sorbelle is a hamlet built in the 17th century, most probably on the ruins of earlier buildings.

The farm is situated in a calm, hilly environment, in the centre of the Val d'Orcia Park, very easy to reach. Within the radius of a few kilometers places of great artisitic and cultural interest can be visited, such as:
The Thermal Baths of Bagno Vignoni, the cities of Pienza, Montalcino, Montepulciano and San Quirico d'Orcia which are also famous for the production and tasting of cheese, wine and oil. Extremely enchanting panoramic views can be enjoyed from Sorbelle; moreover it's an ideal place for excursions on foot or by bicycle towards the river Orcia or the Aziendale lake, where it's possible to go fishing. Every year one can take part in cultural events and gastronomic happenings: * on the third Sunday in June: the Festival of the Barbarossa at San Quirico d'Orcia; * n the last week in August: the Bravio of the Barrels at Montepulciano; * on the first Sunday in September: the Cheese Fair at Pienza; * on the last Sunday in October: the Feast of the Thrush at Montalcino; * in the first week of December: the Oil Festival at San Quirico d'Orcia.
